Greg King of TechGage has reviewed the Squeezebox v3.
There aren't many pieces of hardware that deserve a perfect score, and we are rather conservative in handing them out as well, but I feel that the Squeezebox is one of those products that just needs to be used by everyone. Ten minutes with the product and you'll be a believer too.

Stereophile's February issue has a cover article reviewing the Transporter.
Beyond the effortless musicality, I was completely satisfied with the Transporter's sound. The bass was taut, the midrange unforced, the top end smooth and extended...Is the Transporter perfect? If you ask me, it's pretty darned close.
2007-01-17
Son & Image magazine has reviewed the Transporter in their February 2007 issue.
The Transporter demonstrates a real pooling of expertise on the part of engineers, audiophiles, music lovers and other industry partners who are devoted to research and development of digital music network players and reproduction. The device has become a first rate alternative to the throng of network music players. In some ways it has even made inroads as a competitor to the CD player as we have known it for the last 25 years, giving us a taste of how music without physical media will expand to heights and horizons that we can now scarcely imagine.

The Perfect Vision has named the Transporter the Networked Music Player of the Year.
It's not easy to please both tech geeks and audiophiles all in one go, but that's just what Slim Devices managed to do with the Transporter, a product that sets a new standard for design and sound quality among wireless music players.
Squeezebox3 was also named "The best bargain for streaming music from your PC to your speakers."
If you can't afford Slim Devices newest hi-fi wireless music system, the Transporter, then the company's original Squeezebox device plays a pretty good second fiddle. After installing server software on your PC, cable the Squeezebox into your stereo and start the music streaming over your Wifi network.

PC World has announced their Geek's Holiday Hardware Wish List and recommended the Squeezebox.
Of course, sometimes it's nice to move to another part of the house—you know, not in front of the PC—to listen to some tunes. A number of streaming audio devices out there let you access music on your hard drive and play it through your stereo, but Slim Devices' elegant Squeezebox remains my favorite.

SoundStage AV has finished reviewing the Transporter and awarded it Reviewer's Choice.
The Transporter, though, is much more than a WiFi DAC, and its no mere Band-Aid solution. The Transporter is a one-of-a-kind product thats uniquely styled, well built, rich in features, easy to use, and fine sounding. Theres nothing else like it -- at least for now -- and considering all that it offers, its not unreasonably priced. And when you use the Transporter with a computer running SlimServer, it becomes the first-rate front-end of a two-channel, music-serving solution. Its by far the most exciting and impressive product Ive reviewed in 2006, and one I just cant keep from saying too many good things about.

2006-11-17
Squeezebox was named 2006 Editor's Choice in the December issue of Stereophile Magazine and was also honored in the 2006 Joint Budget Products and Digital Source categories!
The "open-source" nature of the Squeezebox's SlimServer software allows it to stay abreast of new developments, and the Squeezebox itself is an elegant piece of kit. At $299 for the WiFi model and just $249 for the hardwired Ethernet version, what excuse does an audiophile need not to join the 21st century?
2006-11-17
Playboy featured the Transporter in their Potpourri section in their December 2006 issue.
Back in 2003 Slim Devices brought out the Squeezebox, an inexpensive gadget that lets you play music from your PC in any room in your house. The Transporter ($2,000, slimdevices.com) does the same trick but with audiophile-level sound processing and components. This beamer is easy on the eyes and even easier on the ears. We hope you ripped those CDs at top quality.

"you want this" is how MacNN's Dave Cryer describes Squeezebox in his review for MacNN with a rating of 4 out of 5 stars:
The Squeezebox works impeccably. This device appeals to anyone who has their computer in a separate office and wants to access their music library elsewhere. The extra features make it useful as an alarm clock and you can read your latest RSS feeds before starting your day. If you want very high quality music streaming, then the Squeezebox should be at the top of your shopping list.

PC Pro has reviewed the Squeezebox3 and named it their PC Pro Labs Winner!
But all this would be pointless if the basic music server function wasn't any good, and thankfully it's the best we've used. The freedom is immense: searching and browsing is simple, but it's the extras like the Random Mix option that elevate it above the competition.

Liz Gannes from GigaOM has written an article about Slim Devices, our history, and how things operate within the company.
I was one of the first outsiders to take in the companys newest device, the $2000 Transporter, a fully geeked-out network music machine. (The New York Times is running a snippet on it today) Dolly Parton and Beyonce never sounded so good. And no, they were not singing a duet.
2006-09-07
The New York Times has published an article on their web site discussing the Slim Devices Transporter.
Audiophiles have been feeling left out when it comes to wireless digital music systems. Many systems transfer music with some fidelity, but few well enough to please connoisseurs delicate ear. Now there is the Transporter from Slim Devices, a high-end digital music player with enough pedigree to walk at Westminster.

Eric Hetherington from GoodSound has given the Squeezebox a very favorable review.
So, the Squeezebox is not the only device to perform the functions it provides, but it does seem to me to be the best-rounded of any such product when functionality and price are considered. It has more features and usability than stand-alone Internet radios, it costs less than products that offer similar functionality and it supports open-source software development.

Hexus.net has reviewed the Squeezebox and has awarded it an Editor's Choice award:
It's hard not to be impressed with the Slim Devices Squeezebox. It's fantastically easy to set up and the intuitive software will have you listening to your favourite tracks well within an hour of opening the box. What's just as pleasing is the fact that it's more than just a digital music streaming device. Slim Devices has added a number of extra features such as SqueezeNetwork and RSS ticketing support, to make it useful on a number of other levels. It's also versatile enough to play almost every music format and it certainly wouldn't look out of place in your living room.

AVReview™ has published a round-up review that includes Squeezebox. Guess which was the group test winner?
With a 24-bit Burr-Brown digital-to-analogue convertor (DAC) sound quality is fantastic via the phono outs or through either of the digital connections. We had Bowie's Sound And Vision pumping through and were blown away by the sheer clarity. Furthermore, the menu system is so quick and intuitive that simply browsing through your music collection is almost as fun as listening to the songs themsleves.

Stanley Miller II reviewed Squeezebox for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and liked what he saw:
Nothing has unchained digital music from the computer quite like the iPod, but a device called the Squeezebox is equally brilliant. ... After trying out the third generation of the Squeezebox for a few weeks, on loan from Slim Devices, the Mountain View, Calif., company that makes it, I can confidently say it's one of the best home media adapters I've played with.

The Squeezebox is our top pick. The elegant device uses 802.11g Wi-Fi (the SoundBridge uses 802.11b), and is the only one of the three to support WPA encryption, the more-secure successor to the WEP encryption in the other products. An alarm clock and a headphone jack make the Squeezebox a fine bedside companion.

Slim Devices has taken a great thing and made it even... well, greater. This is one box that should have a prominent place in anyone's home theater. What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision reviewed Squeezebox in the April issue and gave it 5 stars out of 5.
The Squeezebox 3 uses a 24-bit Burr-Brown DAC, and it shows. Through a Denon micro, songs sound good, but channel it through a £1000 amp/speaker combo and you light the blue touch-paper: Johnny Cash's voice on Hurt is heart-rending; the AmŽlie OST teleports you to the cobbled streets of Montmartre; while Leftfield's Space Shanty makes you hop around the room like it's 1995 all over again.

Good Gear Guide reviewed Squeezebox and gave it 5 stars!
This is the best media streamer on the market at the moment and a pleasurable merge of form and function. ... Of the many products that make their way through our test centre, very few have supreme design and also work beautifully. It seems that many companies value one or the other but it is rare to find a seamless combination of form and function. The Squeezebox from SlimDevices is such a device - it looks sexy and performs impeccably. ... If you are looking for a way to play your music in a room other than the one your PC is in, this is the device for you.

Bob Buskirk has reviewed the new Squeezebox for ThinkComputers and rated it 9 out of 10!
Overall I was very impressed with the Squeezebox. It is small enough that it will not look awkward or take up much space in your home entertainment system. The wireless capability is what really makes this a great device; you are not limited by wire restrictions. You can control what is playing in the living room from your bedroom. There is no lag or drop in quality using the wireless either. You are not limited to use low end speakers either. The Squeezebox supports digital and RCA out so you can hook it up to your high end speakers. The display on the Squeezebox is very cool, the text is big and vibrant, and the spectrum analyzer makes it look even better.

The huge range of supported formats, the multiplicity of ways it can be used, the functional cleverness of its display and remote, the wireless connection to the PC, easy access to Internet radio, and the capability to fit into even a no-hold-barred high end audio system — these are compelling strengths. In truth, Squeezebox 3 has rekindled my interest in music. I haven't listened to so much music at home or had so much fun with my stereo in years.

It is so well-made. We see a lot of products come and go here and if there were one that I hate to let go, it would be this product. It did everything I expected and then some. A true audiophile will appreciate the Squeezebox and for the general public, prepare to be floored. If you haven't been on Santa's knee yet, tell him about the Squeezebox. It's small, portable and will not only fit in his toy sack perfectly, but also on your entertainment center. Please? Santa?

Manroom magazine has a review entitled Not Your Mama's Squeezebox and says some nice things:
Bottom line, the SqueezeBox3 is a cost effective digital music networking device that should be at the top of every man's Christmas wish list. The new design alone is enough motivation if you were on the fence over the previous versions and the new features should be enough to send any music lover to their order page. And, if you don't have a clue what I am talking about, put down your club and buy one just to impress your geeky friends.

Squeezebox2 has convinced me that you can get serious, high end sound off a drive ... LORDY! Clint DeBoer, editor-in-chief of Audioholics, has reviewed Squeezebox2 and rated it 4 1/4 of 5!
While there are several products on the market that address streaming audio needs and provide solutions, it is difficult to find one that addresses audio so well. The Squeezebox2 is alone in its combination of price point, connectivity options (optical and coax S/PDIF), DAC quality and wireless-G capability. Add to that the additional features such a VFD, bridgeable Ethernet port and flexible plug-in architecture and you've got a unique product with some rather compelling selling points.

If you are looking for an elegant way to play MP3, Apple Lossless, AIFF and internet radio without dragging your computer over to the home theatre or stereo, Squeezebox2 is a wonderful solution. The beautiful 320x32 grey scale fluorescent display and the high fidelity Burr-Brown 24-bit DAC looks and sounds great with any home theatre. Squeezebox2 is a significant upgrade over the original Squeezebox. The new SqueezeNetwork is awesome and Squeezebox2 is the best external audio interface I have used.
